I have a dozen or so traders that utilize ring down circuits. We bring these in on CO trunks and use the hotline function to get these to the endpoints. On the phones it's abrdg-appr of the analog extension that's setup with the hotline destination. We are deploying SIP phones in the next 2 months to these users and abrdg-appr is not supported on the SIP phones. I was informed about the special application SA8887 (Hotline for IP Telephones), which I've enabled. I've created an IP station and entered in the info of the Hot Line Destination. I then created a brdg-appr of this onto one of the phones and it does not work. When I press the line I just get dialtone and it doesn't ring the far end automatically. I've reverted this back to an analog station and an abrdg-appr and it works as intended. Is there a setting somewhere on the IP phone I need to change to get this working like that analog line?

Adding a bit more to this as this is a super important function for us. After enabling SA8887, I created an IP station and in the new hot-line destination fields entered in the system list and DC of the defined destination. I then bridged this line onto my test phone. When going off-hook on it, I get normal dial tone and it doesn't follow the hot-line defined info of the station. If I log a phone in with this IP station and go off-hook directly on it, it works. So it's not working off the bridged appearance, which is a major issue for what we need to do. Does anyone have any insight on this?

Why are you involving a bridged appearance? Typically a hotline would be a dumb phone that autodials a number. Your 2nd to last sentence says you have that working. Explain why that is not satisfactory?

This group of people use this funtion with 50-60 different far end banks, so on their phones is an abrdg of a different analog extension that's setup with a different hot-line destination. When they go off-hook on the abrdg it works instantly. The current setup with the analog extension and hotline is exactly the same as this IP station and the behavior accessing the brdg-appr is not the same.

Please clarify. So they have 50 buttons on their phone programmed as 50 different bridged-appr of hotlines that lead to 50 different banks when they press the button? If so, couldn't that be done with a regular phone with 50 auto-dial buttons not involving a hotline? Press the button and your call goes to that bank?

Currently, about 50 different abridge-appr of hotlines that lead to 50 different banks when they press the button. These are 2way direct circuits specifically to these far ends. The far end goes off-hook and hits that specific destination on our end as well. Setting up an autodial that dials the TAC of the hotline TG is doable. Getting the callback to the phones wouldn't be ideal. It would turn into 2 buttons per far end and that's not doable.

Is it imperative that the return call goes to it's own button? Could the return calls go to dummy extensions or vdn named "BOA", "Fidelity", etc... the dummy ext goes to a Cover-answer back to the traders? It would ring their regular call-appr but their display would say "Call from BOA".

That would work in getting the call-back in for sure, but they also need to have the ability for more than one of them to be able to jump in on the same line.

I'm just struggling to understand why I can go off-hook on an abrdg that has hot-line setup and it makes the call and I can't with a brdg that has the same hot-line setup. A call-appr and a brdg are really one in the same.

When I go off-hook on the brdg I get normal dial tone and can dial out anywhere. However, I need it to follow the hot-line destination info that's programmed in that station when I go off-hook, which it's not doing.

Honestly, I'm surprised that the hotline feature works on the abrg-appr to begin with as that's not how the feature is described or what it was meant to do. More-so described for an entrance phone to pickup and ring a security desk after hours. Phone picks up, auto-connects to a destination. For Avaya to then make a SA to then mimic this feature for SIP is good as it's done as their best effort and does satisfy the basic hot-line feature functionality. Unfortunately it doesn't mimic what you're using it for via bridges which I would almost consider more of a side effect of the analog hotline versus the true hotline feature.

Yea, not sure what the intent of the feature was. We've been using it this way for years and add to it pretty frequently. I'd have thought when you go off-hook on a main call-appr or a bridge (a or b) of that line shouldn't matter. The outcome of this one is a big downer for us.

Just to clarify. SA8887 Hotline for IP Telephones has a Note stating that it does not work for SIP endpoints, so presumably the IP Telephones being referred to here are H.323?

These are currently analog stations that are abrdg'd on H.323 phones. Converting these from analog to IP and using brdg-appr instead of abrdg is supported on SIP.

On 8.1, I can't add a abrdg-appr in SMGR, but I can add it to a SIP station in CM and sync it back. It's a lab I'm turning up, so I can't test if it works yet :)

I'm just beside myself that this is not working with the brdg. Sounds like a low lying fruit item, but is a huge deal for us with these remote folks.

If they are coming in on co lines then you should be able to program the buttons as a personal co line

ACSS IP Office AIPS IP Office

can you add the abrdg-appr via CM, incremental sync, refresh PPM and see what happens on a set? Might work.

Yea, I did try that the other day when you mentioned it. Doesn't visually show, unfortunately.
