I'd like to restore an exchange directory to a destination server that is not the original one.
When I go to set restore information into ntbackup there's no way to set a destination server name different than the original one.
Does anybody know why I cannot restore to a new destination server?

Env.: MS NT Server 4.0/SP6-MS Exchange 5.0

easiest way I find is to put the backup device on the new machine, drop it off the network, rename it the same as the old one and restore.

Otherwise Exchange isn't happy going up to a different named folder...

Exchange will only allow you to redirect the Information Store restore. The Directory restore can not be redirected. You will have to do as I did and install the backup device on the server you are restoring to.
