Am trying to find a tutorial on how to correct hot spots on photos. The bright parts on a face because of the lighting. The pics are taken with a Canon EOS 10D. I have some pics but because of the lighting and other factors I need to correct the hot spots on the faces before the pics go to print and the web.
Thanks to all in advance.

Hi,

Use a selection method such as quick mask or magic wand etc and highlight the hot spots, then use a combination of levels, hue/saturation and brightness/contrast to get the parts of the images looking natural.

Hope this helps!

hey there

just saw a good workaround for your problem in the latest issue of photoshop user.

i tried it and it works :)

"to reduce shiny highlights on a person's face, use the patch tool set to source, select the shiny skin, and drag the selection to good skin information.

IMMEDIATELY (very imp!) upon releasing the mouse, select

Edit->Fade Patch Selection and adjust the opacity to allow some of the skin highlights to shimmer through"

try it man. it is really good :)

gl. post some before and afters if you have time. and hey, nice camera :)

I do something similar. I pick a color close to the spot that I want to spot to become, then use a simple brush to paint over the bright area. I find that setting the transparency around 50-60% works rather well. Just make sure you paint on a layer, just in case you have to make corrections.

Hi,

You could also use the healing brush and sample an area of skin and paint over top of the hotspot, it will retain the texture values and apply a constant color from the face.

Hope this helps!
