HI, Has anyone been able to hotline analogue extensions to isdn. It's a 3300 7.1. I have tried mucking around with speed dials and ARS. I can only get it to go to internal DNs. The customer has hundreds of speed dials on their fax and they don't want to reprogram it.
Thanks, Brooke

99% sure you need to reprogram the fax machines to dial the ARS access code.

the 1% is only because I am never 100% sure of anything.

I do not know the 3300 at all but does the cos have "direct to ars"?

No it does not.

Only the SX200

How about this:

You should be able to access ISDN trunks

Hotline
Description
Hotline automatically dials a specified answer point when you go off-hook. The designated answer point can be another station, an attendant, a trunk, or a hunt group.

Conditions
Feature access codes (other than Speed Call System) cannot be included as part of the destination digit string.

The Hotline set must be one of the following set types:

ONS

OPS

single-line DNIC (cannot have a line appearance on any other sets).

Programming
Enter the following parameters in the Associated Directory Number Assignment form:

Directory Number: originating directory number

Associated Type: Hot Line

Associated Number: destination directory number

Slapin, Correect me if Im wrong but your solution would hotline to 1 specific number.

Brookster36 wants the system to automatically dial 9.

As far as I know, your solution will not allow this.

(I'm interested to learn differently however)

As I undrestand 9 is a valid destination. Or a speed dial pointing to 9 could be an option. I didn't test it but according to description it should work.

9 is not a valid destination unless it has zero digits to follow. Sounds good in theory but I doubt it would work in practice.

You are right. It should be exact ARS match. So Speed Dial will work. Tested.

?!?!?

Slapin, you got this to work? I owe you a beer.

You used associated DN form that pointed to speedcall that had the digit 9 in it and nothing else?

Fax machine goes off hook, 3300 dials 9, fax dials remaining digits and gets through?

Waiting with baited breath.

Thanks Guys for your replys. I tried with a speed dial going to 0 ( which we use for outgoing route in Australia ) but it didnt work. I was thinking of using tenanting or ARS with the fax having its own set of routes and have them not absorb the first digit, in this case, zero. I have not been able to try this out as yet, but let me know if you think this would work.

If that doesn't work, perhaps you could do some fancy footwork with ARS to accomplish this? You'd have to set up a seperate COR for the FAX, and do some screwing around with routes, route lists, and digit modification. Basically set up a route that only the FAX station can access (through COR), and set up a DM on that route that automatically adds the 9. Would be a PITA to program, but you'd have a happy customer.

I have tried Slapin's suggestion of tying Assoc DN to a speed Call with the digit 9.

No Luck, the speedcall is an invalid destination.

Back to my original answer, Not gonna happen, gotta dial 9.

Crap, after thinking about it, my concept won't work either. Believe me, whoever figures this one out will be a popular fella in Mitel circles. Sounds like something that should be sent to Mitel as a DCR, no?

Hey All,
Thanks for the interest in this. I still haven't been able to try my thoughts on tenanting the fax and creating its own ARS. I'll let you know if this works.
