My hosts file keeps being overwritten with bogus websites that redirect me from the site I am trying to reach. If I delete the hosts it comes back and has these bogus addresses in it. I have already run spyware removal utilities such as cwshredder, hijack this, spybot and they are all coming up clean.

Thanks for your help

If you are using spybot to could lock the hosts file. Go to the immunize section and check off "Lock Hosts file...".

You might also want to add ad-aware to this computer and scan with it as well. I haven't seen an update for spybot in a while.

Rijay..

Spybot was recently upgraded from V1.2 to V 1.3 so you'll need to upgrade to get the **latest** definitions.

I have tried all of the mentioned, no spyware is ever found but the hosts still gets overwritten every reboot.
Thanks

What site(s) does it take you to? Is there anything else strange or wrong with this computer? Have you checked for viruses?
