hi guys

when i send mail, it is attaching the hostname to the domain name.

its like this my hostname is mail
domainname is ramtest.net

when i send mails to mail.ramtest.net they are going and able to receive it , but if i send to ramtest.net they were not able to receive the mails.

what might be the problem

hi kubla,
thanks for reply

what ever way i send it goes to only username@hostname.domainname

i tried in outlook as well as in linux using mail and sendmail command. eventhough same problem.

i want the mail address should point to domainname only.

Hallo,
I ran into this myself a few days ago - perhaps this thread will help you? thread14-467961

Are you sending mail to 'user@mail.ramtest.net'?

or are you having to set your smtp to 'mail.ramtest.net'

If it's the later

Are you running dns?

If so check your mx record if it reads 'mail.ramtest.net' that could be your problem.

change it to 'ramtest.net' that should allow mail to go through using a smtp setting of 'ramtest.net'
