Hi mate,

If nothing else, then their lack of security knowledge would make me say to avoid them like the plague.

The fact that they are running Apache 1.3.20 and that there has been 9 security vulnerabilities found since that version tells me that they are not even remotely up to date on security issues.

Hope this helps
Wullie

Also, while you might not be going for the unlimited offers, any host that offers unlimited bandwitdth for $1.66 is having a laugh.

Your site might not need unlimited bandwidth, but how many sites on the same server are using a high amount? Your site could be down for ages because of this.

Never ever trust a host that offers unlimited bandwidth for a low price, I wouldn't personally trust a host that offered unlimited bandwidth for 10 times that price.

Hope this helps Wullie

I agree with Wullie.
My site uses in excess of 50GB bandwidth per month and over 2 GB of space. We got roped into one of those "unlimited" banwidth sites, well.. because of the bandwidth.
The server was constantly slow, many down times and alot of hassle. We ended up having to go to a server that was more expensive, but has rarely been down, they handle the security with firewalls and all and 24 hour support.
So, depending on the volume of traffic and how crtitical it is that your site is up, it may be better to go with something more costly, but more reliable.
Bottom line, you get what you pay for.

hello

Hello

thanks for all this and im thinking of going with dzones.com, just gotta work out if that's enough bandwidth and the reason that im not choosing any of the others is because my spending limit i decided was $25 a month
