I am running Networker Server 7.0 Build 322 on Windows 2000 Server, the client is running 6.1.3 on Windows 2003 Active Directory. The server is in an NT domain and the client is in a separate AD domain. I've tried upgrading the client to 7.1.2, but I am not upgrading the server because a Legato tech support person once told me if it's not broke then don't fix it. I have the host file configured on both the server and the client. DNS is configured for each. They can resolve Name/IP with ping. I can add the client on the Networker Server. I can configure the ports of the client. Firewall log traffic prove they are seeing each other. But I just can't get a back up. One weird thing in the logs is that I see the SUN RPC port 111 trying to be connect to from the client, but according to Legato documentation the portmapper no longer uses that port.
One example, on the client, if I open the Networker User it can't find the server. I tried the -s trick in the Networker user icon properties.
Also, I ran:
save -s 'networkerserver'
NSR server ardnas: Unable to receive
save: waiting 30 seconds then retrying
save: RPC error: Unable to receive
save: Cannot open save session with ardnas
Any ideas?
It must be Active Directory, diff domain related. I tried doing a backup on a Windows 2003 server in the NT4 domain and it worked fine.
Best Regards,
John
