I am a novice here. I have built a report giving us all orders where the product either had a negative inventory classified as stock or had a status of backorder and a positive quantity. Now I need to list all open picking ticket numbers regardless of status, listed horizontally on same report to save space on report. Originally I had built a separate report that listed these open tickets and it was OK that the results printed in columns, but if I import it as a subreport it almost triples the size of the report although it links fine. I tried following the steps of adding a Cross-tab (posted here)but when I tried doing the format, there was no format numbers tab even though it is a picking ticket and I would think number field. The end result was the same number twice, instead of 3 or 4 sets of numbers.
Any thoughts?

Hard to say witout understanding the underlying table structure.

Try posting example data.

In general you can't place 2 disparate datasets alongside each other in Crystal, and I'm guessing that the picking tickets are a different dataset.

You migh combine the data into a single data source first, using a View or an SP, or you might be able to return it all in one recordset and conditionally suppress.

Successful posts tend to include:

Crystal version
Database/connectivity
Example data (what's being returned by the database)
Expected output

If you just want a list of open tickets, you could insert a subreport in the report footer. Place the ticket field in the details section and then go to the section expert->details->format with multiple columns->layout tab->set the width and gap->across then down.

I went through the steps listed and it sounds like it would certainly work but yet it didn't. I even tried moving it to the header and got the correct results just in a columnar format, is there some option that I am missing?

Formatting in multiple columns would do just that--return the results in columns. Isn't that what you meant? If you are having problems with the columns appearing, try playing around with the width and gap settings in the layout tab.

I am getting :

32769
33413
33420
33561

and would like :
32769 33413 33420 33561

Hi,
After choosing Multiple columns, did you set the Layout to Across, Then Down?

To Paraphrase:"The Help you get is proportional to the Help you give.."

I set the Width to 8 inches the Height is dimmed out
I set the horizontal gap to 0.125 left vertical gap at 0
I selected Across then down

You should be setting the width to the width for the field, and the gap to the distance between the fields. So try:

width: 2" gap: .5"

...and see what you get.

To simplify this, try using the mailing label wizard, it will automatically build out this sort of layout.

You also might be able to combine the data and avoid a subreport as previously suggested.

Thank you Thank you Thank you, You ROCK! I knocked it down to .7 and .125 and it is just what I am looking for!
