Hi All,
I have an MP3 player with a 1.8" Toshiba hard disk in it. Last week it stopped working, if I hold it to my ear when I'm trying to start it, it makes a sound just like an analogue clock. (if you want to hear it let me know and I'll find some webspace for it) The player is out of warranty so I'm happy to pull it to bits, I just don't know if it's going to help at all. I know about the freezer trick but I believe it may shorten the drives life. I've also heard of bending it to free up the heads. Can anyone advise me of any tricks that might help me here, I don't care about saving the data, it's all triple backed up already. I'd just like to save a couple hundred bucks on a new player.
Thanx in Advance. . . . .

If it clicks you can forget about it. It's gone.

Well that's not the response I was hoping for, but if it's cactus then it's time to go shopping for a new MP3 Player, huh?
Thank you all for your help. . . . .
