Would it be possible to take the flat screen monitor from a laptop, and connect it to a PC? This is for a car mp3 player/dvd player etc. and I want to have a small monitor to watch. I already took the screen off, and it has two sets of wires coming out of it, each with a connector on it with 20 holes. Do I need some kind of adapter? Or could I somehow rewire it to hook into a regular PC video in wire. Any way I can do this? Thanks in advance for the help.

yeah you need a lcd screen ahhh adapter thing, that then conects to the video card, look at a site called if it is still around it will help you out heaps .... I got a Mp3 player in my car but is a normal headunit that plays mp3 cd's with a tvout plug for a small monitor, I thought about putting a pc in my car but in the end is too much mucking around .... some people put in 10's of thousands into thier mp3 car stereo's and run linux, windows and even cutom built Java programs.....

I went to that site, but I didnt see anything in the way of adapters. It had a premade screen that coupl plug into the ciggarette outlet, but thats not really what I'm looking for. i'm not sure if tahts the site you meant, because it sent me to If anyone else has any ideas as to where I could get such an adapter, or any ideas as to what I could do to get it to work, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks,

Go to - go to the link at the bottom and poke around on that forum. They usually sell adaptors in the FS section.

Btw, this is a really cheap hobby. My entire system cost me $50 - the result? A computer in my car (no lcd screen though...).

I just got a head unit that does it all, 900 bucks though ..... it is kewl as!
