Hi - I have a small home network consisting of Linksys Wireless Gateway wire connected to two desktops and two wireless laptops. All connected to internet OK and all can 'see' each other on the network. Problem is that the two desktops can transfer data to each other OK but not to the wireless laptops and vice versa. I also can't print from the wireless machines but can OK from the wired ones.
I notice that the properties button of the wireless network 'File and Printer Sharing' is greyed out and wonder if that's significant. Have tried with all firewalls disabled. Had to use memory keys to tranfer data last night - very annoying when there's a network present. Any help greatly appreciated - thanks in advance

olderrocker,

Yes you have hit on part of your problem with;
'File and Printer Sharing' is greyed out
You did not specify what OS's are being used but I assume that you are using WIN XX on all machines. I have/am netting several versions of Win xx all combined on the same workgroup at home. You need to establish net sharing.
Have you checked to insure that all machines are part of the same workgroup name?

If youa are using XP this might help

Found out the problem - it seemed to have been caused by the Zone Labs Firewall settings in all machines. Strange one, because the setting have never been changed and everything worked OK with the previous wireless ASDL modem !!
Anyway thanks for your input and sugggestions - it's good to know that there is always good help and advice to be had on this forum. Thanks again - Del
