Home Technology???

I have heard of X10, home networking and voice activated lights for the home. What is out there? Where is it going? Can any one provide sites, articles, etc. about the future of home technology?

I think we are living out "HAL" from "2001" the movie and right on time. B-)

What I love is the rocks with subwoofers and cd players in them . What's next trees with TV's. So long and thanks for all the fish.

I have a friend who has all his lights and curtains wired up to his PC, so he can program them to turn on/open at any time. Thing is, if his PC crashes (it has been known to), the settings all get messed up, and he finds himself waking up at 3 o' clock in the morning with his lights on and curtains open.

He forgot to warn his girlfriend when she was house sitting once and she almost died of a heartattack when the lights came on - she thought it was a burglar. d'oh.
