I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me with this. Attempting to solve this has cost me an embarassing amount of hours.
What I have is 2 computers that are plugged into a hub. Both computers have internet access. I want one computer (Computer 1) to be able to access the other computer's(Computer 2) C: drive. Obviously I do not want other people from the internet to be able to access this.
What I have done: 1. I used network wizard to create a home network. 2. I went into advanced file sharing mode on both computers (via tools->options and unchecking the appropriate option) 3. Unshared the default shared folder. 4. Created a new share (a default one was already created) for the C: drive on Computer 2.
The Problem: The ONLY way I have been able to access Computer 2's C: drive is if I ensure that "Everyone" can read/write under share permissions and security permissions. I have another account on the computer called "Student," and if I remove the "Everyone" permissions and add "Student" permissions then I cannot access the drive from Computer 1. It says "Workgroup is unaccessible.... Access is denied." I must be missing something because how can I be denied access when I never received a box to login to the remote computer (as "Student"? Please tell me how I can fix this.
Thanks
