Hey everyone, I've hit a brick wall:
I've purchased a network router to share my Cable connection to both of my PC's. I've put both the PC's on the same work group, and i've been able to see the Computer names when i go to network neighborhood, or when i try pinging the respective computer name.
PC1 (old pc)
PC2 (new pc)
When i ping PC1 from PC2, it doesn't work, the pings time out, but it resolves what IP PC1 is using.
When i ping PC2 from PC1, it works, the pings go through.
Needless to say i can't share any files from PC1 on PC2 and vice versa even if i've setup their shares.
The internet sharing part works without a hitch. which is what the whole operation was for in the 1st place.
What strikes me as odd is that the names resolve the IP address, but yet i can't get a ping from the IP, but i do get a ping when trying in the other direction (PC1 to PC2)
I am not by any means a novice at this kinda stuff, i've dealt with wireless networks and more, without problems, but this is just boggling me.
please provide any help you can, i'd appreciate it greatly.
Thank you in advance.
Chris
