Home network - newbite type problem

I have two PC's (XP pro) with two NICs, and plan to get DSL connection and network two PC's together. I've done extensive research, but still fail to figure out what is the optimal way to network all this. I've had peer-to-peer network, but now I have to venture into the world of hubs, switches, routers, DSL modems, which is still very confusing to me. Which hardware components would you use and how would you connect them? If possible, best solution would be that both computer can access internet without requiring the other one to be on.

Get yourself a Router that supports WAN. It has a 4 port switch to connect your PC's and an uplink to put your high speed internet. You will then have both computers on the internet... besides, I don't recommend you connect to high-speed internet without one of these boxes in front.

Thanks, I bought a router at local computer store and diagram on it is very much self explanatory (plug DSL modem here, plug your computer here...). Now I'm waiting for DSL line activation. Thanks again!
