Windows XP MSHome Network has 3 PC's and a Network Printer.
PC #3 is Backup Machine and it dropped off the network?

PC #1 and #2 can see each other
All 3 PC's can access the network printer and the internet via common router

It worked fine before a 10 day vacation

I tried changing autodisconnect to ffffffff as some suggested.

I tried to redo the Home Network Wizard.

In My Computer clicking on that Disconnected Network Drive results in a delay, then an error message "Error trying to reconnect to ... (it names the drive)

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Jim..

As Asimov was won't to write - insufficient data for meaningful answer.

From your post it could be almost anything. However the work "holiday" seems to me significant.

To start with I suggest.
You check all Ethernet cabling for signs of damage.
You de-fluff and re-seat all network cables.
You re-seat the NIC card on the errant PC.
You re-boot your router.
If that doesn't fix it.
Ping each machine from each machine.
Report back what happened here & in addition coppy & paste the results of the "DOS" command ipconfig/all here for further advice.

Thanks for your assistance.

The wiring is OK other wise I wouldn't be able to get to the network printer from that machine, which I can.

From Pinging, I found that the problem machine had .1.6 as the last 2 octets. I use Zone Alarm and the network was defined as ...1.0 to ...1.5 (ie, not including 6) I expanded the range to .1.9 on all 3 machines and the problem is fixed.

I don't know why .6 came into use when it never had been before?? Is it a sign of a hardware problem with the router??

Anyway, thanks for your help which led me to a solution.

Jim
