Could someone recommend what to get and where for Cisco routers & switches for a home lab? Do you think ebay is a good source? Thanks.

Ebay is the most easily accessable. Sometimes you can find a good deal if you do the legwork going to second hand shops etc.

A guy where I work got a fully loaded 3640 for less than $100 at a farm bankruptcy auction. Most bidders didn't know what it was, let alone what it was worth 8)

Can you tell me model numbers that I would need and how many of each? Thanks.

For CCNP you will probably want to go with the 2621 router and the 2950 series switches. The 1700 series would also be good for a lab. Only drawback is the single fast ethernet port. A second ethernet port can be added with a wic-1enet but the wic is 10base-t full duplex at best. Can add WAN wics to the 1700 at a pretty reasonable price though. Some 1700's are also voice capable but need PVDM module (packet voice data module) in it to support voice wics.
