We are running in a 2003 server enviroment and all of our active directory users have their "Home Folder" connected to a UNC share from our file server of \\server\share\username. Occassionally our laptop users will experience mapping of their Users drive to \\server\share instead of their home directory.

I did see a post earlier that said "Home Folder" on the AD account was a legacy setting, but I have seen no indicating documentation anywhere that it is a Legacy setting. Is there actual Microsoft documentation backing this up? And why does it only happen inconsistantly to a few users?

It only happens for XP users (not Windows 7 or Vista). I would really like to get it working rather than moving the users drive mapping to a VB or BAT script. Any help or insight would be appreicated.

Had this a few years ago. Turning off fast logon optimisation fixed this for us;

The link below describes fast logon optimisation and how to disable it via group policy

Thanks for the tip! I have flipped the setting on the laptop users GPO and will see how it works!
