Hello,

I would like that someone could explain me these concepts:

What is the purpose of the home folder in the profiles tab of a user account? It is a path to my documents folder?

Does this configuration a part of the redirect options that we can find in a GPO?

Thank you

This article explains the Home Folder.

You can use a GPO do that as well, but setting on the individual user's account prevents you from making logical errors that could apply the GPO to users you don't want to have that policy, such as Administrator. Depends on your environment and your preference.

Sorry, but I was not able to figure out what is the objective of a home folder... What will be on that folder?

Also, what is the default folder of the home folder?

And, when in an active directory envirnment, the local path to a home folder is local to the directory, or to the client/user for who we are configuring.

Thank you

In simple term home folder is nothng but a centalized folder in your file and print server where users data is stored.
You create home folder normaly by same name as user and share it by giving full contol to local, doamin admin and user.
Normaly you use home folders in conjuction with folder redirection.Users when they save their data onto their my documents folder but in theory rather then their data being stored localy it gets redirected into thir repsctive home folders listed on the server.
All this allows for centralized backup and recovery of users data.

And local, path is nothing but simple UNC path //homefolder name/server name.
