Again, my chubby little fingers, I'm certain, caused the behaviours of my [Home] and [End] keys to change in Excel.

Previously, pressing [Home] key moved current-cell cursor to beginning of current line.

Now, pressing [Home] key moves current-cell cursor to upper-left cell of currently displayed screen of cells.

Previously, pressing [End] key did something that I cannot remember now.

Now, pressing [End] key moves current-cell cursor to lower-right cell of currently displayed screen of cells.

Can someone please advise me what I must do to revert to the old behaviours?

Thanks,

END key switches END mode. On the right of status bar excel displays 'END'. In this mode navigation is different (details in the 'keyboard shortcuts' topic in help).

Make sure that you haven't got Transition Navigation keys switched on ... Menu command Tools/Options/Transition and make sure the check-box labelled Transition Navigation Keys is unticked.

Cheers, Glenn.

Did you hear about the literalist show-jumper? He broke his nose jumping against the clock.

It may be an option somewhere, as the others have mentioned, but to me it sounds like a stuck <Ctrl> button. This can caused by:
[ul]
[li]The key on the keyboard literally physically being stuck - such as if you some time previously spilled even just a tiny bit of a sticky liquid onto the keyboard.[/li]
[li]A glitch in the system. I've had one computer at home where the Windows button seemed to be pressed continually, until I had pressed it a time or two on purpose.[/li]
[li]Something pressing the <Ctrl> button when you are not meaning to - maybe your palm somehow, or perhaps if the keyboard is under the desk, connected by a keyboard tray.[/li]
[/ul]

"...[!]of currently displayed screen of cells[/!]" is the key clue here. Both a stuck [Ctrl] key and turning on Transition Navigation keys cause the [Home] key to always go to cell A1, regardless of where in the sheet you are currently.

The only thing I know of off the top of my head that causes the behavior you describe is Scroll Lock.

Thanks, All, for your contributions.

goes to...CK1999, who identified (and thus resolved) my particular problem. (I now recall that a couple of days ago, I caught my 4-year-old grandson "helping Grandpa" by keying all over my keyboard while I had stepped out of the room. So, as I suspected, the problem was chubby fingers...just not mine. <grin>)

Thanks again,
