Holiday msg as an alternate main grtg?

People at work have been bugging me about this one for months... (we have norstar startalk phones)

They claim you can record a holiday greeting that will replace the main greeting in its entirety, instead of being just a short msg that plays right before the main voice mail greeting. However, no one knows how to do this, and I can't figure it out.

Short of re-recording our main grtg each time we are closed for a holiday, what can I do? How can I make this simple?
Any help appreciated.

Log into your voice mail box under the feature 981 then press Admin or the number 8 press 2 then press choose and choose the ALT then the system will prompt you to record the greeting. then this will save your prime greeting and play the ALT greeting.

It sounds like you are wanting to change your AA greetings in the greeting tables. the AA table is set up normally as follows. table one annswers the incoming call and depending on the times set on the table will send the call first to one of four greetings, by default table 1 morning greeting is greeting 1, table 1 afternoon greeting is greeting 2, table 1 evening greeting is greetiing 3 and table 1 non-business greeting is greeting 4. after one of these greetings is played either the AA menu prompt is played or the CCR menu is played. What our office does is to go into System Manager and record a new greeting on an unused greeting (greeting 5 in our case) then go into SM and change table 1 to play that greeting for all four times.

1 2 0 0 0 0 OK , 1 0 2 0 0 0 0 ok , or 1 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 OK.

Greeting: 5 ok

(record the new greeting press OK when complelte)
accept the greeting OK
hang up the call
log on again under feature 9 8 3

morning: 1 (write this number down for after the holiday)

Greeting: (enter 5 or whatever you recorded above) OK

Afternoon: 2 (write this number down for after the holiday)

Evening: 3 (write this number down for after the holiday)

hang up the call. now greeting 5 or whatever will play for all times and all calls without deleting the original recordings. MAKE SURE your new recording is not one of the recording numbers you already are using.
