Hi All,

I'm trying to configure Music on Hold for an IP Office R8 (0.43). Now I've made everything as is in the documentation my hold music is less than 90 seconds in the proper format. It plays when you listen to it (*342#). The only problem I have is the following, the default music keeps playing no matter what I do. With embedded file management I delete the default HoldMusic.wav, upload my holdmusic.wav or HoldMusic.wav but every time when I restart the default music on hold plays. The default file it seems gets recreated every time on restart. There seems to be no way to permanently delete the file and get my music on hold playing.

Any ideas?

*342# is the first alternative source, what do you have set for primary? Delete the file, reboot and then upload if it's still being odd :)

You have an IP500V1?
It looks like it's trying to load the holdmusic file from the TFTP server and can't find it. Enter the manager PC IP address in the system and have the file in the working directory file in that machine.
What I'm saying is that the holdmusic file tries to reload from a PC every reboot in your situation. If the IP Office doesn't know where to get the file, it polls the network for Manager service running on a machine. If it's not running or the machine is not on, it doesn't get a response and fails to load the MOH file.

Also try *341#
*342# is the rarely used second source.

You can view all of this activity happening with the TFTP and PRN filters in monitor.

Source: I asked myself.

Tried that doesn't work, I entered the PC IP address and put my MOH file in the directory. Deleted the default HoldMusic.wav with embedded file management rebooted and still the default music on hold plays. This is getting frustrating.

Is the holdmusic file in the working directory on the PC running manager? It should be.

So as you can see the file is in the directory and still nothing. And i've done this before not with this release but newer releases and I've had absolutely no issues with those versions. Maybe an upgrade will do?

1) Manager must be running.
2) What is the working directory set to in Manager> File> Changeworking directory?
3) Turn the firewall off on the manager PC
4) Check your IP address is statically set in the config in TFTP and not a catch all of 0.0.0.0
5) You can view all of this activity happening with the TFTP and PRN filters in monitor.
Monitor tells you who, what, where, why, when.

Without monitor, my butt and an F Set I'd put my fist through a wall.

Is it a 500 or 500v2? Any frustration is not because it doesn't work....because it does. You need to do it right depending what system you have and as mentioned that code is wrong for testing the default source :)

If you can use embedded file management you can use the flash card in the chassis as file server. Independent if it is a IP500 (CF card) or a IP500V2 (SD card). Just make sure the IPO knows to use the card as file server. TFTP server must be set to the IPO IP address.
