I was wondering if anyone knew what the problem might be with our hold music. I reinstalled our equipment room (just the servers not the phone system) and had to unplug the cable that supplies the hold music. After I finished setting it up I but plugged the cable back in and the music is very static and it is barely auditable. I know the correct pair (yellow/orange) is being used but I am not sure why it would be doing this now when I never touch the phone system itself and it would perfectly.

Thanks for the help....

Make sure the wires are secure, and if a radio is being used as the music source make sure it isn't slightly out of tune. Also try repositioning the antenna if a radio is the source.

Try reversing the wires. The music input is grounded through the system so correct polarity is necessary.
