Dear All,
My HMC is not seeing the managed system , we have tried all the optins, did a direct connection from HMC to the managed system(no switch in between), still no luck.

IBM says we have to reboot the managed system which is just 1 LPAR in all, but thats the production box, and getting down time is very difficult.

What i have in mind is to recycle rsct_rm and rsct daemons.
Pls let me know if its a right approach , ALSO why you guys suggest?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

I had this before and it was because of some firewall between my hmc and my lpar. Your hmc and you lpar are on the same vlan ?Can you give more information about the IP adresses of your hmc and what kind of pseries (p5 or p4 or p6 etc...)?

cheers
Al.

It shoulde not be a problem because HMC is seeing the other managed systems.
Pasted below is the netstat -n | grep 192 output from the HMC

tcp 0 0 192.168.128.1:50003 192.168.254.255:30000 ESTABLISHED
tcp 0 0 192.168.128.1:50012 192.168.254.255:30001 ESTABLISHED

IBM says they will do 2 things
1)Power cycle the managed system , some one has to do it onsite as I dont have the coonection to this managed system.

2)If 1 doesnt fix the problem , then they will cleanup the NVRAM replace the FSP . replacing the FSP is risky if you dont have the backup of profile data, but since I have only one 1 LPAR and that is consuming all the resources , I can go for it.

Will keep you all posted.

Rgds

A reset of FSP solved the problem.

Have a star for updating us with the solution coolaix!
