hmc and pSeries

we have a hmc and a few aix servers connected to it. I just added a new server to it but when I try to open a terminal window to the new server I don't get anything in the terminal window. when I boot the box i see the status of the box on the hmc and I can get into the sms from the hmc but once aix loads the hmc gets nothing.How do I get his to work?

I once had this, when i used the wrong serial cable.

as far as i know there are 2 kinds of terminal cables, on which is a nullmodem ( send and recieve pins are crossed ) and one which ist straight.

maybe you can exchange the cable with one of the other RS6000, you know it is working.

maybe you can configure your serial port on HMC which cable it expects ( straight or nullmodem )

I have the correct cable I got it from ibm and I tested the cable on one of the other servers and it works fine and I still get nothing if I use a cable from one of the working servers.

got it I used smitty to redirect console out put to tty0
