Most CID I see has 10 digits as well. I find the call in call logs, press my trunk access code (9), dial 1, then push the button next to the number in the call log.
Caller ID would never show a 1 unless perhaps you had SIP trunks and that is how it is being delivered when formatted under E.164. But a PRI and Analog would always show the proper 10-digit number.
make it add a 1 in ARS if it is not a local area code, or add a 1 to the prefix on the trunk and strip it for local calls is ARS. It's a pain in the ARS.
Test if dialing a 1 for local works and add it to all incoming will save you some time.
