I have a user that works remotely and needs to access her voicemail from outside the office, but everytime she tries receives the message above. I am sure it is something simple, but can't find it....Any ideas?

Sorry, the title cut off some of the message...here it is:

This mailbox cannot be accessed from an outside source, contact your adminitrator.

I have recorded the spoken name...Is there further that needs done to initialize??

You can also allow for external initialization, but I don’t recommend that.

doenst the password change come before the name recording?

how are u trying to access the mailbox?

is auto-login enabled for this user?

I think you can record the name via the browser without changing the password....just guessing though.

When you first access the voicemail, it requires the password change, which I did. It then required the Spoken Name be recorded for the directory, which is required for initialization. We are able to access the box fine inside, just not remotely...

you didn't answer senk1s,
how are u trying to access the mailbox?

You might check the COS assigned to see if offsite access is allowed..

To access the mailbox, she is calling into our receptionist, who transfers into voicemail. She presses ** to get to the "Enter Mailbox Number and Password" prompt. When she enters her mailbox number and password, she is told "This mailbox cannot be accessed from an outside source, contact your adminitrator".

Silver, How do I check that? I know everyone else can access there VM box from the outside...

When you go into adminstration (f983) go to change mbx, this is where you can look at a mbx properties. When you get to COS change it to a known COS that works, usally COS 1.

Ok..I thought that was what you meant...it was 1...I am going to have her try it again today and see if it works...

COS - does not have a parameter for off premise access
once i get to a CP i'll try the autologin

Either the mailbox is locked, as mentioned above, or the passsword has been reset to default and the COS assigned does not allow external initialization. Have someone on site change the password to 1234, then try logging in remotely.

I will reset the password today, then change it to what the user wants it to be(as I did the forst time). All my other users can do, just this one MB is messed up...

Sometimes, it's useful to delete and rebuild the Mbox. Usually, when re-using a DN/Mbox for a new user, I just blow out the old Mbox. This way, the new user cannot inherit old user's setup.

Thanks...I am going to try that today....Do I have to wait any amount of time before creating the new one and attaching it to the DN?
