------------Log4j properties configuration------------

For custom and local configuration of logging utility
you need to put Log4j properties file named
'log4j.properties'
in 'C:\Documents and Settings\Rade' directory and reinitiate cm
(refresh, open some other window, re-logon, ...).

If you are using AppletCache Manager you can find it in
'{path_to_AppletCache_dir}\{server_version}\common\properties' subdirectory.
If you are not using AppletCache Manager you can find it at
your server in '/opt/unity/htdocs/common/properties/' directory.
After you copy it you need to edit it (instructions are
included in the file as comments).

For more info read the configuration file first.

Local property file found. --> Log4J is running with local property file (C:\Documents and Settings\Rade\log4j.properties) now.

Please can you answer -
What version of HiPath is this

It's UV3.0 SA5, he listed it above somewhere.

Error 108 is again a java error/maybe appletcache problem.

This would work if you perservered but it would probably help to upgrade it, looking at the age of it. Nevertheless with the right mix of IE and Java I'd expect it to work.

CM was never reliably working on ATLAN, it was never meant to, but in the screenshot above he's still trying it. That always gave a corba error though, not 108.

I use firefox to administer mine. I have it permanently frozen at version 51 and set to never install updates (the next version after that broke the ability to administer the system). I have Java 6 on because some of the gateway boards need it for WBM, but I am at V7R2 with my 4K so that seems to be working with the current version of Java for that. When firefox whines at me about a system I know is good I say Allow and Remember and then it quites nagging me for a while. I know I have to go into Java in control panel and I have to whitelist the IP for assistant, and I have the IPs for all the gateway boards whitelisted as well. In internet explorer you need to have all those IPs in the Trusted security zone and it helps, and also go into advanced internet settings in IE and remove the checkmark from "warn about certificate mismatch" and that will help a little, but it still sucks to use it. I also know that every time you install a new version of Java you have to run the certificate install again because each version of Java goes in its own special directory and that file has to be in there, and I have to reinstall the Applet Cache Mnager (ACM) on occasion. Most of this happens automatically when you run the system configuration steps before you get into assistant, or choose the link for "Public Area" and re-run the browser configuration steps.

Firefox and Chrome do sometimes work when IE fails for a particular task but it's never a permanent solution, or at least it shouldn't be. The problem is Firefox (and Chrome) is not officially supported. It was originally, then it stopped. I can't remember for UV3 and I don't have the release note here, but the client prep would tell you. If you uninstall everything, make sure no bits are left behind (a proper clean up of the files), and follow the install steps with the right versions, it should work. It always has, for me. But UV3.0 is so old now, you'll need an old IE version for sure... trying to get it working on unsupported versions is hit and miss.

For V3 (and for all other versions) I use Microsoft XP VM
So if I need to log on to a V3 I open up my V3 XP on my Win7 PC

It uses
MS IE 6
Java - downloaded from V3 HiPath

I add in all sites that I access to the MS IE 6 as Local sites (Internet Explorer Options/Security/Trusted Sites/Sites)

I untick the 'check for updates' box on the Java and it is kept at the version above.

Hi SBCSU

Ours configuration is bit a different. Our lap top doesn't have hardware Virtual support so

we have to use old 2007 Virtual Machine and in Windows Enterprise disable blocking patch ...

Would it bee to much to ask if it is possible to put workable virtual machine from your PC

on same shear directory

like here

I have been busy this week so I'm behind the 8-ball, but after you tried Java 6 again and your error 103 went away, did you co back through the system preparation process?? EVERY time you add or remove a Java version you need to go back through the Java certificate install process and the applet chache install process because files have to be added to those java directories.

Chrome no longer supports Java and hasn't for a while that I know of. Firefox has to be frozen at version 51 or lower - newer versions than that break the ability to work with the 4K. Firefox for me works way better than IE, because the "Allow and Remember" feature allows me to grant permissions and exceptions once and then forget about them for a while. When you put a non-current Java version on the computer it will nag you that it's not current, but will still allow you to override that. IE will ask you over and over and over, and paint the top of the browser red. Firefox (51 or lower) will let you say to remember that decision. Also, as has already been mentioned, it is very important that you have the IP addresses of all your systems in the "trusted sites" list on your browser, and also go into the Java icon in control panel and add all the IPs of your systems to the white list in there as well.

Hi DB1

We have reinstall delete java fallowed from step 1 to step 6 .... nothing

Please explain more detail "you have the IP addresses of all your systems in the "trusted sites" list on your browser"

Is not enough to put only 192.0.2.5 ?

It has to be all IP with all directorates ? We are sure that 192.0.2.5 is enough since in right down Explorer corner is indication of domain visited ....

Regarding JAVA we will check . We thought that installing certificate is enough .

Thanks for all advice's and help
