------------Log4j properties configuration------------

For custom and local configuration of logging utility
you need to put Log4j properties file named
'log4j.properties'
in 'C:\Documents and Settings\Rade' directory and reinitiate cm
(refresh, open some other window, re-logon, ...).

If you are using AppletCache Manager you can find it in
'{path_to_AppletCache_dir}\{server_version}\common\properties' subdirectory.
If you are not using AppletCache Manager you can find it at
your server in '/opt/unity/htdocs/common/properties/' directory.
After you copy it you need to edit it (instructions are
included in the file as comments).

For more info read the configuration file first.

Local property file found. --> Log4J is running with local property file (C:\Documents and Settings\Rade\log4j.properties) now.

Try it on the Customer LAN IP, not the internal 192 IP. Corba error is noromal for CM on the ATLAN (not supported) on older 4K. Think it works on the newer OS4K but you mention java 1.4 so I guess you are old software.

Complete the 'Client Preparation' on the landing page of 192.0.2.5
You need a specific Java version for each HiPath version.
It may assist to use a VM - Virtual XP Machine - for connection to the HiPath if you use the connection a lot

Moriendi
Thanks for tip.
PC with Windows 7 is running virtual XP and it is connected to customer Ethernet plug ( nearest to diodes )
So problem is in where Ethernet is connected? Not in first but in last plug should be plugged .
We will try tomorrow.
This HIPATH
switch is some old left over after migration to SIP CISCO equipment and we made virtual X machine too figure out can be usable for something ...

Sbcsu
Here I have found some Tip advising to delete all older Java ... so because of that we have install Virtual XP clean.
Only Java from HIPATH landing page STEP 2 ...

1. For the Customer LAN port the default IP address is "192.1.2.5" after Unix installation and
you can change this from UW7 / UBA.
2. The Service LAN port makes the access to the Atlantic LAN. A connection to the ADP
(RMX) can be produced by means of the IP 192.0.2.3 and the IP 192.0.2.5 can be accessed
the HiPath 4000 V2.0 Assistant and by means of (on the full scale) with the Internet Explorer.
3. The IPDA LAN port is only required when IP distributed architecture is added.
4. The ATLANTIC LAN port is designed for the connection to the WAML/HG3550V2.0 board
or for any connection of an application Server.

We have connected our PC to port 1. but it should be connected to port 2. ?

192.1.2.5 is the default for Customer LAN, but if it's been installed a while, maybe it was changed.

Only CM gave the Corba error on the ATLAN, other apps like UBA worked as normal, so you can still use UBA to find the Customer IP when connected to 192.0.2 LAN.

Not sure where you are connecting, if you attach a picture it will be clearer.

Hi Moriendi

We connected PC to circled Ethernet port , but as I understood it should be connected on square input

connect_veaxu9.jpg

Circle is for the Customer LAN. Default is 192.1.2.5 for customer IP but it may have been changed already to something on your customer network.

Square input ("Service") is for the internal ATLAN, 192.0.2.0 network.

You can look for the configured customer IP either by browsing to 192.0.2.5 on Service port and looking at LAN config in UBA, or putty to 192.0.2.5 (telnet or ssh, depending on how old your software is), and using ifconfig command.

Hi

Apologies for pause in answer. I have tried both ETH ports and nowhere is Assistant working .
To be precise first half on MENU in Assistant is working but when We have try to see BOARDS STATION ..etc. CORBA error appears

We have tried FOX instead of explorer but it is same .

If it in some help here are two JPG files and in addition TXT file where JAVA reports problem.

We wonder if is problem with certificate since certificate is referring to "EN Software and product release " and https: is 192.0.2.5

You may need to restart the CM processes

From telnet/shh to Assistant

cs_control stop
cs_control start

Then try cm from customer lan

Have you run through the client preparation steps to install ACM, the certificates etc.

OK, the board you showed runs up to V5 as far as I know. For V5 I believe you need to have at least Java V6 on the Oracle website when you go to get Java there are some links on the bottom that allow you to access older versions of Java, but one side note is that you cannot complete the Client Preparation if you don't have a supported version of Java, so if the setup did complete with all steps showing green/OK, including installing the Java certificate on your PC, and the Applet Cache Manager, then you must have a supported Java version... If you are on V4 or V3 I don't know what Java version it needs because I started at V5.

I will also comment that I have had NO success with communications and switch management using virtual XP on Windows 7 because it seems like it doesn't have full access to the various communications ports. I found it better to just do all the client prep right in Windows 7 and be done with it. It IS possible to have multiple versions of Java installed and functioning on a PC, but you will get whiny warnings about security issues when using the older versions, plus you also need to have a browser new enough to be compatible with the software, and I am not sure if IE6 or IE8 or whatever is the highest that runs on XP is. I think I had to go to Windows 7 when I started working with the 4000.

Also, if you are going to access the system through the 192.1.2.x IP addresses then your PC has to be assigned a 192.1.2.x IP address (I would suggest 192.1.2.100 because some of those lower addresses are used internally to the system), appropriate subnet mask to match the system, and default gateway.

You might already know a bunch of that, but I didn't think it would hurt to go over it. :)
