Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if Unify has announced end of support for the HiPath 4000 v5? If so, what's the timeframe and where can this detail be found?

Thank you!

It's on the Unify Support Portal ( under Downloads & Documents > Product Information > Voice Portfolio A-Z.

Order stop: 2011-10-31
Order stop for expansions: 2015-04-30
End of development support: 2013-08-31
Order stop for spare parts: estimated 2018-02-28

So pretty much, if something fails you can get it fixed, you can get routine moves and changes done if you're not doing them yourself, but pretty much any other software problem their response is going to be "Upgrade to the current release first, and if the problem still exists we will address it then".... Even V6 is almost done - with the most recent 2016 date thing they only released a patch for the latest release of V6 - anything else you have to use the MOP, and in V7 you have to be R1.8.39 or higher at the moment. That's the thing that sucks with all the new stuff. Back in the old days you dust plopped the stuff in there and it worked, and very little changed, but now everything is software-based, and just like Windows the version changes are neverending - except Microsoft lets you get away with a lot more than any of the PBX manufacturers do!

Thank you both very much for your help! So I guess after 2018-02-28, no fixing is available via Unify - correct?

I've been told that they will support the current version minus 2. I don't know if they plan to continue the 4000 series or not... But since the 4000 V7 is current, they support down to the V5. As far as fixing is concerned, Unify still supports our V5, but if we ever want to add to the system, we have to upgrade. (not sure about our other V6 system) They've done the same thing to us on our Xpressions system. We are running V5 now and need more licenses. They say that we can't order licenses anymore - we have to upgrade to V7. Very frustrating.

They have to keep the software current because of security issues, bugs, etc, so that is their way of pushing you to keep current. From a hardware perspective they need to try and keep up with what the Industry is doing so they will always be trying to improve the hardware. I can understand it even if it does suck to fix or upgrade it. Plus the other thing is when they hire new techs they don't have to expend the resources to train them in that old stuff either.
