Hello,

I'm having trouble in configuring the PPP Dial in Hipath Expert Access to access an HiPath 4000.

I know the Hipath is accessible via modem, as I already tested in the past.

However, I'm having trouble in configuring the connection in COMWIN. Does anyone have a tutorial on how to configure it?

I have the phone number associated, the FAMOS IP and the username and password.

Best Regards.

It's been a really long time since I did this. A really, really long time. But the way I remember it, you configure it in UBA by adding the modem into device pool, then under UBA still, EWS Access, you add that device pool, and add chap username/secret. Then, you can add a PPP connection from windows dialup networking. Windows connected via PPP direct to 4K and that put you on the 192 LAN, you would just tell Comwin to connect to the 192 address.

Hello Moriendi...

Thank you for your answer.

However, on the Hipath4000 side, all is configured, and weel I suppose.

My problem is the configuration on the Hipath Expert Access / ComWIN side.

Do you have any screenshot or tutorial on how o configure it?

Thanks you!

I found some old config.

It looks like from Comwin directory, I've used the FAMOS, PPP, to add a PPP profile. Enter the phone number and set "destination" to be the right versionm, ie UW7 since UV1.0. Modem and script it should fill in itself, user and password are what was configured in the CHAP info in UBA. IP address is what was configured in UBA (this is different from what I remember, I thought I connected to 192.0.2 something, but it's been a while. Maybe that was for earlier than UVxx versions, or it depends if you only had EWS access configured, or also some other central server). Then click store, and it'll create a PPP dial up entry. "Configure" will edit that dial up entry.

Then OK in Comwin directory entry. To edit that entry, it's PPP Amin under the telnet tab.

That's all I have.

If you are dialing into the Hipath with PPP and you want to launch ComWin--
When the connection is established the remote system will have an IP addrees assigned.
If you bring up the status of the connection this will be the Server IP address.
You can also find this address in the WAN configuration screen in UBA.
It is the VPN server address.
Once this is known open ComWin--if you have a connection directory entry for the site open it, click modify.
You will have several tabs-Description, FAMOS, RMX/COM, Telnet, UW7, etc.
Click FAMOS-under Hostname type the IP address found in the steps mentioned above.
If you are connected to the you should then be able to click the FAMOS tab from the directory entry and access the system RMX command line.
Good Luck.
