Hi all,
in Hipath 4000 Assistant V5 I would like to import our company certificate. Unfortunately i can not succeed.

I got web server certificate with exportable key from windows CA. The file is in format of PKCS#12 (certificate.pfx)
In Assistant when i try to import this file in Manage Web Server Certificates/Certificates for this Web Server/Import and I also insert correct password for private key i got error message: Error: Check of certificate and key failed!

I also tried to export from pfx file certificate file (certificate.cer) and private key file (certificate.key) and merge this to p12 file. I used openssl command to get p12 file. The result of importing p12 file is the same as for pfx with correct private key password.

Can anyone help me with correct procedure how to import corporate certificate and private key file to assistant web server?

Thank you.

Are you using Internet Explorer?
Have you tried asking on the Windows sections of this site

Hi i am using IE. The problems not with windows or IE. But thank you for replying.
IE is setup correctly using client preparation process.

Any other ideas. Have you tried this process before?
Thank you.

Hi
No I have not tried it yet.
There should be context sensitive help on this in the import area.
I should be able to try something like this tomorrow

Hi,
if you succeed pls let me know the procedure, i followed the help file in import area but this does not help me.

Thank you for you cooperation and help.

May I ask why you need to do this? I have imported the system certificates into windows for validation, but what on there needs to validate a certificate from your company? Sorry if it's an ignorant question, I'm still learning )

No worries donb01,
we have a company certification authority that issues all certificates within the company (this CA is a trusted CA for all employes). I received a web certificate with a URL address in this certificate so i need to import this cert + key into Assistant so the web assistant web pages are recognized as trusted.

Hope this explains why i need to import our own certificate into Assistant.

Ahh. So on your network you can't just add the Siemens certificate into the trusted store and be done with it - your network only regards your own certificate as trusted?? OK, I get that now. Thanks for the description!

HI sbcsu,
any progress with import of a certificate.

thank you

HI sbcsu, i succeed in importing. Here is the process i used:

obtain certificate from windows CA. Export in hipath.pfx (The certificate template has to have allowed exportable private key)

Export the certificate and key in PEM format.

Export key file
openssl pkcs12 -in hipath.pfx -nocerts -out hipath.key

openssl rsa -in hipath.key -out hipathkey.pem

Export certificate file
openssl pkcs12 -in hipath.pfx -clcerts -nokeys -out hipath.cer

merge certificate and key into 1 file

cat hipathkey.pem hipath.cer > hipath.pem

import the certificate into Hipath Assistant

Regards.

Well done Efik
