Greetings,

What are the options on setting up a system wide 4-digit speed dial or translation pattern that any user can dial to be directed to a Helpdesk. The extension desired is 4357 and the destination is a toll-free number 800-800-XXXX. The site uses 9 for outside dialing access. Setting up ext 4357 to always Call FWD to 800-800-XXXX is a thought, but need guidance on the best way to accomplish the divert.

Normally administrate Cisco IPT and Tranlsation Patterns have been set-up to accomplish this - not sure on the HiPath 3800... the previous thread is for a HiPath 4000 as the set-up will involve this system also and the admin is totally different.

Please provide tips using the Manager E application.

Thank you for your help!

I can give you the GENERAL idea for this, but don't have time to go dig out all those records from days gone by.

Assuming your system programs with Manager E like the Hicom 150 series, which I'm pretty sure it does.

Create your extension on a blank line where there is no port number.

Make sure the extension has the permissions to forward out of the system

Then you need to go to a phone that has permission to use the "Associated Dialing" function (you can enter codes on behalf of another extension)

You want to forward extension 4357 to the 800# so the command you would enter on the phone looks something like this:

*83 4357 *11 91800800XXXX

If I didn't screw that up, *83 says Take control of (4357)
*11 says Variable Call Forward to (91800800XXXX)

The phone you are using needs to have the privilege for Associated Dialing or it won't work. I also have never done this with an external number so I don't know if it will let you get away with that.

Thank you donb01!

If there is any way that this can be set-up using the Manager E only (remotely) that would be great. The sites are a little spread out so having to visit them would delay the immplementation. I normally work on Cisco IPT and getting reacquainted with the Hipath 3800 & 4000. In the CUCM, a translation pattern can be set-up to accomplish this - was wondering if the HiPath 3800 could do the same by using the Manager E tool.

Thank you anyways for the input!

I used the Call Forwarding tab in Manager for this.
Set up 4357 as a Station and make sure it has "FWD external permitted" in Stationview. May sure to check the LCR COS.
In the Call Forwarding tab, find an Dest. list that is not used and click the drop-dowm menu under Target 1.
Choose External Destination (you may have to scroll up) Enter the Route for the call and the number as it would be dialed from the phone. 9+1+nxx-nxx-xxxx. Assign the list to the Call number. This works on a Version 4 3750, it should work on the 3800.

All methods will work on the 3800

you can use the online phone and do donb01 method. after setting virtul extension up on the system upload it then use online phone to forward call.

Or hamncheese method is good, better if you would like to have the extension go somewhere different in night mode

Hi Gentlemen,

Just want to thank you guys for your input and advice in accomplishing the task in the subject line. Due to the geographic nature of the implementation and my lack of 'online phone' knowledge, I used the 'hamncheese' method to make the changes. I'm thankful to report that it worked.

Now on to the HiPath 4000's. Will update on that thread.

Thank you again!
