Hi,
I'm need to highlight only a portion of a test file to copy it. I know there is a way you can highlight down vs going across.

IE.

how are you
how are you
how are you
how are you

Just highlight how going down and not are you....

Hi,

What application are you editing your test file in?

There are some editor applications that have a BLOCK select and a LINE select.

The BLOCK select is what you are looking for IF your editor supports that.

I'm using notepad right now becuase it's a .txt file. I know I should be able to open this in other programs. The question is what program should I be using? Would Word allow me to do this?

Thx,
Ryan

You can export it for the first word TO BE in separate cell,
can't you ?

The DOS program edit.com allows block select,
along with Ctrl C, Ctrl V, to copy and paste.

Make sure your DOS path contains the folder where edit.com exists.

from a dos prompt do a > edit yourfilename.ext

No need to use DOS in this case!

Open the File in MS Word and use the Alt key while highlighting the text you want to copy! ;-)
