Hopefully an easy one for you guys and girls but it's got me stumped and I can't find anyone else has asked this allready.

I have a list of calculated values, and I want a visual clue as to the greatest value. Ideally change colour of that cell. Another option might be to list the geatest number at the end, like a sum function.

Thanks Skip, but in Excel 97 (work are too tight to upgrade) the Max functions isn't there.

Have tried greater than or equal to but get error stating cannot use this function in a direct refernce to a cell or range.

Steve:

Change the dropdown from "Cell is:" to "Formula is:"

Skip,

I really would appreciate it if you could tell me how. I'm sure it's v simple, but....

I have "Cell Value is", "Greater than or equal to" (there is no 'Max' that I can see, and have selected my range in the last box.

Where am I going wrong?

Thanks again

Steve:

Do as I said in my last post, and then select then enter =MAX($A$1:$F$25).

*Note that "$A$1:$F$25" is the entire range that contains your data.

To all respondees,

Thankyou sooo much.

Sorry it took so long to get through to me.

Don't forget about the non-printing feature that will reveal the max value in a range. Select a range and on the status bar, you'll see SUM=#####. Right-click on that area and select Max. This gives a quick view of the max value in the selected range.

Best,
