For the last three days every morning when all of our users come in and start to log in the CPU usage on our Windows 2003 AD domain controller goes up to 100% and the system becomes unresponsive and users begin to have login issues. Our second domain controller does not have any problems at all and is also authenticating users. Nothing has been changed on this server since 08/01 when all of the most current windows patches were installed. The server ran perfectly fine last week. There is nothing in the event log pointing to a problem.
The process using all of the cpu is the system process.

Yes, it is the System process that is using all of the CPU

In the past i've seen a virus scan do this. if you have antivirus on the computer check to see when you are scheduled to scan, maybe it's taking too long to finish.

I've checked all virus scanning schedules and disable the real time virus scanning. No luck.
