Hi

we are migrating from netware 5.1 to windows 2000 - in netware if a user does not have rights to a folder or file they cannot see the folder or file in explorer - it does not physically appear.

in windows this is not the case even if a user has no rights to a folder under a share they can still click on the folder and are then told they do not have rights to it.

my question is - is there any way of hiding directories from users under a share they have right to. I heard this can be done with group polices?????

cheers

Rod

Not that I am aware of. Its a shame I liked the Novell way.

You might be able to mark that folder as 'hidden' then in group policy make it so that the user or specific users can not see hidden objects whether they try to enable 'see hidden files' or not.
