Our receptionist has access to use CallStatus to view current call activity. My supervisor (the head honcho of the company) would like to make any activity normally viewed in CallStatus for his extension(s) not displayed in CallStatus. The idea would be to keep his specific extension(s) under a cloak of secrecy. We're operating on an Avaya IP Office 500 6.0(8).

The thing is that the receptionist needs to have access to CallStatus, just not be able to see any activity for his specific extension(s). Can this be done? If so, how?

No this cannot be done.

CallStatus is not a reception tool, so you shouldn't give it to her in the first place...:)

Also callstatus is not supported on systems running 4.0 or higher.
When a user does not want to be seen using the phone then don't use it at all!!!

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Indeed, call status is an engineers diagnostic tool and is designed with that in mind, it is not supposed to be given to end users and as such has no settings of the kind you mention. Soft Console is for receptionists. :)

Thanks! Then I'm assuming this would be possible to do in the Soft Console if we had a receptionist license?

You cannot hide it.
Why does he want to hide that he is calling?
I think it is a odd request and i would not trust this at all.

If you search for soft console user guide you will see how it works, it allows hem to see is selected users are busy or not, but not who thy are calling etc. They can also drag and drop calls to users which makes transferring easier :)

Use soft console and do not add the "boss" as a member. The receptionist can still manually transfer a call but they wont be able to see the bosses status anymore.

and if that is a 500v2 unit, get it off 6.0(8) ASAP or risk a defaulted config
