Hi,

I want to create a mde file from my frontend database. In this mde file I want the database to stay hidden and not make it possible to unhide the database window.

Is it possible to, or at least make it more difficult, to unhide the databse window.

Check the Tools, Startup options. That allows you to hide the database window

Do you mean the bit that shows all the tables and queries, etc, or do you mean the actual application window?
If it's just the window with tables etc in then go to tools->startup in the menu and untick the "show Database window" option.

If you are trying to hide everything apart from an active form, then let me know & I will dig out the code for that.

You could also include in your autoexec window, a Runcommand, windowhide to hide the startup window.

I've found this is better for portability.

I mean the bit that shows the tables and queries. I know about the tools -> startup option and I use that. But I don't want it to be able to UNHIDE the database window via the window -> unhide.. option. Is there any way to disable the unhide option?

In the startup section there is a button labeled advanced. Click this and a new section appears. There is a check box for "Use Access Special Keys"....uncheck this and you should be set. The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources. - Albert Einstein [spin]

There is still a way to hack into the database once you have hidden the database window and unchecked the box for "Use Access Special Keys". I am writing to let you be aware of this if you are trying to conceal confidential information.

1. Open the database and click on Help in the menu bar.
2. Click on the index tab and type Database Window in the text box.
3. Select "Showing or hiding at Startup" option.
4. Select "Display or hide the Database window when a database or application opens" option.
5. In the dialog box, click the first Show me.
6. You are in!!!!
