Hi two ip500 9.1.9.0 can you use port forward to set up an SCN. I have both trunks up and both systems can see users, but one system drops the call and gives busy

What are you saying?

Do you have have 2 IPOs on different locations and try to open ports in the firewall to connect them with SCN over the internet?

Yes

We have a situation where we are trying to set up an SCN without being able to provision a VPN.
We have forwarded all the correct ports etc.

One site is using portt forwarding the other has a routed connection, so not forwarding required, we can direct traffic to the IP address of the IPO
(No, this is not across the public internet!)

Both sites can see all the extensions on the other site (verified by Monitor - SCN details)

We can call one way no problem, but the other direction when dialling the extension number does not see it as an SCN call and tries to route to the PSTN

Cheers

Are the two connections from the same provider, if so get them to create a local link between the two connections, so both sides would communicate with each other using private IP addressing rather than public (this would only be on say a 5meg segment of the line), it would then result in a second interface being made live on their equipment (our provider uses juniper routers) which you can connect your IPOs to on the local subnet created on the new interfaces and create the SCN that way.

Yes they are both from the same provider.

Strangely it's over MPLS but on one site we are unable to use a routed subnet as we would normally do due to the IP addressing already deployed on site.

We tried creating a VPN between the 2 routers wit the same effect so we're a bit puzzled....

Joe - yes it is a bad idea, however we're kinda stuck with it for the time being so trying to find a work around.

H.323 usually sends it's internal IP in the signaling so it won't work well through NAT.

You might have better luck using the WebSocket connection in R10 as it is used for cloud deployment, but it's a maybe =)

DontTry to bodge a solution , do things properly

Configure a VPN between the sites & use that it will save you lots of problems & provide a far better solution.

I see you have already tried that so you should investigate why the VPN is not working

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
