Hi, need assistance on how to do back up my high path 4000 V6 into my PC via comwin because just recently, my server stopped suddenly cutting off all the services, and it might happen again.

Hi sbcsu, i am just end user, maintaining the existing Hipath 4000, we learned by our own effort, we do basic maintenance like adding, changing phone configuration and other hardware change requirement. And, because the system is live, I dont have the opportunity to explore the system, scared to shut off the system. But because of what happened, need to backup and regen the system file.
If you are just the 'end user' then you should understand that if anything happens it is now your fault and the company that has put you into this unfortunate position will also look at you for it to be resolved.
You need to get training OR bring in a specialist to maintain the system.
Without a deeper knowledge of the 4K I don't see how a regen will help you. It's useful to show you if configuration has changed, but if that 4K dies, what are you going to do? You won't be able to build new discs, you need the install USB for V6, and I doubt you will able to GENDB the database from the regen. A regen is just a clear text config file.
In your situation, you want to be able to get a dead 4K up and running, quick as possible, using an image which is bootable. You need a "recovery disc". From the Portal, you can start/stop the RAID onto a 2nd HD, which the 4K calls a recovery disc.
From the release notes, the supported HDs on V6 were
(1) SEAGATE ST9250410AS (replaced with 3)
(2) TOSHIBA MK2576GSXZ (replaced with 3)
(3) TOSHIBA MK2561GSYB
You should try and source one of those discs, and use the Portal to create a bootable backup from Maintenance, Recovery HD.
Hi SBCSU, thank you for your guidance. It's true, situation like this really need deep understanding. Once, i have the the replacement, i maybe able to use the old one as LAB unit, where i can do practice.
Hi Moriendi, the system was back to normal and running after a hard (power) restart and almost took 2-3hrs to recover and load the files. Because of such incidence, it was nice to take the necessary back up like the system configuration file and its operating system, which never been done by us yet. Anyway, proposal to upgrade the system was underway. Is it safe to use the Start action command on AMO REGEN-ANUM while system is on service?
Yes you are safe to make a regen when the 4K is in service, there is no outage for making a regen.
Strange it took 2-3 hours to come back in service. I would expect 10-15 minutes. Big delays like that can be caused by the system flashing new loadware onto the peripheral cards, that can really slow it down. But that only happens if the loadware on the hard disc is different from the loadware on the cards. So if someone put a new loadware on the HD, but did not load it to the cards, then the next time the system reboots, it loads that new loadware to the cards. Example, if you have a system full of SLMA cards, and you put a new loadware on for SLMA, and reboot the system, that can take a long time to do. SLC cordless cards can also take a long time, especially if it is flashing base stations.
