Hi , Im having a strange problem 1

Hi ,

Im having a strange problem with a distribution list. I have assigned a Normal user as the owner of the distribution list. This user can access the the properties of the DL from the Global address list and but cannot amend it. The user adds names and deletes them but when the user clicks ok it comes up with, cannot modifiy DL you do not the required permissions. I have assingned the user with permission admin role for the DL but still no joy.

I am using Exchange 5.5 sp3 and the client is Outlook 97.

Any ideas?

Is the user in a DL that has lower rights to the DL. If so the lower rights will be used as access control.

The user is a member of 2 other DL's but only the Owner of the DL in question.

The DL in Question is not nested in any other DL's nor are any other DL's nested within it.

Any other ideas?

Are the Distribution List, and the person assigned to administer it based on the same site. If not, he/she will not be able to amend it. You will have to move one of them, so they are on the same site.

How long has it been since you applied these rights to the user to own the DL?

The user is in a different site to that of the DL.

Maybe that explains the problem.

Where did you get that info from Dazzabroughton? I have not seen this in any documentation.
