Hi,
I have a G4 Powerbook and my external harddrive which is not being seen by the system.

Lacie have said that either the system or the harddrive is corrupt, and I should run First Aid.

The drive is only found when I run the installation software that came with the drive, and the only option I'm give is to initialise the drive.

Does anyone know if there's a way to either repair the drive, or more importantly, retrieve my data?

I'm a PC user by default and this is beyond me. :-(

You are most likely up the proverbial creek without a paddle. I've had drives go up like that and there is nothing to be done short of expensive tech solutions that may not work. Have you tried the First Aid option? Also, you could get Norton System Works and give that a shot. Other than that, I don't know.

I think you're right! Tried all the above to no avail..
