How can i stop sendmail services.?

Could you please explain me more .I have no mail file or directory in etc folder .and how can i disable it ,is that only file which can editable .?

Do a find on the sendmail.cf and change the name to something like sendmail.cfx.

# sendmail -bq (Kills all running sendmail daemons)

# sendmail stop ( Gracefull kill)


To prevent sendmail from starting at boot, change the
MAIL_SEVERS=1 to 0 in your mail configuration file.
On HP-UX this file is located in /etc/rc.config.d/mailservs
