Hi Guys,

got an IPO server 9.0 with a 500 v2 expansion, the expansions has an analog line that needs to go directly to the GM's phone. When I add an H323 extension on the expansion, it is pulling the endpoint license from the server, however, the 9608 phone is trying to register to the server. This results in a login failure, the question is how do I get this phone to register to the expansion?
The reason for putting it on the expansion is because when the phone is connected to the ipo server, I can't put the line appearance on it.

Thanks

Do you absolutely need the line appearance on the GM's phone? Is there not some other call routing mechanism like a hunt group where the GM's phone is the only member that would accomplish the same thing?

hi again,

so foudn some info on the forum that says it can't be done off the server, can somebody guide me as how to get the phone to register to the expansion instead?

Thanks

hi Kyle, it's how they had it and how they want it. So it is necessary, any idea how to stop the phone from registering to the server and registering to the expansion? I have tried manually putting in the IP for the expansion, but when the phone reboots, it changes back to the server address.

Enter every IP information manually into the phone to avoid that the phone pulls information from DHCP.

You can also use a different VLAN for that phone and the expansion.

You can also try to play with the group settings within 46xxsettings.txt and set the call server there.

Educate the GM that he does not need appearance keys it will save you a whole host of grief in the long run

Incoming call route for the Incoming group ID of the analog line simply needs to be set to the GM's phone for inbound calls to work.

Outbound calls if needed can be routed using user short-codes with a different line access code, possibly a button on the handset to make selection easy (& fool the GM into thinking he still has an appearance key if absolutely necessary)

when system upgrades change the operation for a user it is usually for a good reason (to enhance the performance of the system). trying to revers this instead of education the customer to the benefits is in my opinion poor customer service.

If they want everything to work as it did on the old system why are they replacing the old system?

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

This is my thought every time I hear we want it to work like our last phone system worked. Unless the old system died, and if you want it to work like the last phone system, then don't upgrade to something else and then expect it to work like your last system.

critchey, I totally agree with you, and if it was up to me, I would say that, but reality is different lol. I ended up using shortcodes to get to the trunk and everything is fine now.

Ya I hear you there a lot of times I want to say something but have to bite my tongue. In this situation I have heard of some colorful work arounds. My favorite was one installer labeled his call appearances as line 1-4 and the customer never knew the difference lol.
