Hi, canany one help me in Barcode Developing?
I have been developing Barcode application by using software VB 6.0 and MS-Access 2000 as database, and I have no experience in development of barcode application.

Kindly let me know how to take the scanned data from Barcode reader, how to send that data to Database. And how to retrieve data from database by using Barcode scanner ?

Eagerly looking for reply

Thanks

This is very simple. Just connect the scanner with your keyboard port. No other hardware configuration is required.
Instead of typing barcode just scan it.. That's all..

I hope I understand your query...

Hi.
Just wanted to give you a brief understanding of barcode scanning. When you have a PC, generally you use a scanner that interfaces to the keyboard port or USB port. The scanner hooked up to the keyboard port sends keyboard data to the PC. Your computer does not know your are not typing the information in. This is what is called keyboard emulation. What you need to have is a scanner that is called a "keyboard wedge" scanner if you have a PC.
There are many types of keyboard wedge scanners out there. Pretty much every model/type of scanner has a keyboard wedge interface for 1D Scanners (1D is a linear barcode which looks like the barcode you see on your groceries.)
You can learn a lot about different scanners by visiting the top manufacturers in the industry websites:
You can get a hand held scanner (which is the most easy to use, point and shoot) anywhere from $99 on up to about $500. Personally I sell barcode scanners and I generally don't sell any keyboard wedge scanners more than $250-$300 for a 1D scanner.

A good educational site where I encourage you to go (specifically for the barcode industry) is and Both of these websites have educational information on barcoding, case histories, vendor directories, etc. You can even get help with your own project online and use their tools to do so.

I hope this helps. Please email me if you have any further questions.
