Hi All,

Ok. Here is the situation. I am using Backup Exec 8.6
on Windows 2000 Server. Recently it was backing up
my servers with a throughput rate of 350 to 400 MB/min.

Now it is backing up with a throughput rate of 55 to 60 MB/min. Strange??? This is a huge difference.

I uninstall and reinstall a Remote agent from my one of the servers and it is still backing up slowly.

How do I fix it where it can backup again between 350 to 400 MB/min?

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Angel,

sounds like there is a problem with data transfer to your drive.
First I would check the SCSI cables.

I guess you have a DLT or LTO drive if you had a rate upto 400MB/min. If it's a HP drive download the diagnostic tool from and check for a new firmware, then check tranfer rates with that tool.

Do you have the poor tranfer rate when backing up only local files aswell?

SteelBurner,

Thanks for your suggestions. SCSI Cables are fine.

I have DLT drive. I downloaded the diagnostic tool.
I do need to upgrade the firmware. I will keep you posted as to happens.

I don't have poor tranfer rate when backup up only local files.

Was the higher throughput a locally run backup or was it also a remote backup using the Bent Remote Agent?

ZmanS1,

It a remote backup using Bent Remote Agent.
