Hi all, i've had a rather troubling problem since i got my new Dell laptop late last fall. For some reason, I am unable to use javascript on my machine when browsing websites that are hosted from my machine (using IIS). If I source the site based on my ip address (e.g. 333.33.333/mywebsite), there is no problem. However, if i try using my machine's name, all javascript on the site is disabled (e.g. mymachine/mywebsite).

However, if i browse the same websites using my IP address the javascript works perfectly fine. I find this a rather major annoyance and would appreciate any ideas on what might be causing this/how to solve it. I'm running windows 2000 and office 2000, iis 5, and have all the latest service packs.

much obliged

Sounds like your security options in Internet Explorer might have Javascript disabled. I would check your settings in IE under tools, internet options, security.

unfortunately not, as i've reduced ie security settings to as low as possible, and ensured that all scripting is enabled. However, you may be on to something as i've double checked and i don't have this problem with either my netscape 6.2 or netscape 4.5

So under security you have active scripting enabled for all zones?
