I am trying to design a link for two system for a link over a 256k data line using HG 1500 cards. Is it only HG1500's that i will need, will 256k be OK? Will it support centralised voicemail?

Thanks

Russell

Russell,

i can tell you the following things about the HG1500. On each site you have to install a clockmodule for syncronisation. A voicecall will take the following bandwith's:
g711 - full duplex 83kb / half duplex 180kb
g723.1 - full duplex 19kb / half duplex 44kb

With the Cornet protocol it is possible to use centralised voicemail. And don't forget to get enough licenced b-cannels.

Good luck.

Hi Silverblade & Russel,

Have you tried the connection via the 2nd LAN port on the HG1500 card? I can't seem to get a SPEECH connection when used via this port.

Thanks in advance.

BlackChinese,

I honestly have to say that i've never used the 2nd LAN port on the hg1500
But when i look at the programming you should say it has to be possible. On the other hand is it that the 2nd LAN port is originally made for dsl connections so maybe here lies the problem.
But i'm not certain about this because i think it should be possible to configure Voip over the internet. The best thing for this is to contact your dealer/supplier.

Silverblade,

Honestly it should work like a router and it did except for the voice part. I tried configuring both ADSL (PPPOE)type or the LAN2 type connection and that was no problem. It's just can't get the speech to to pass through. I even used a port scanner and it showed TCPIP port 1720 (H.323) was filtered while TCPIP port 12000 was open.

I had a simillar problem on a Taiwan made router and it was the same until I upgraded the firmware and then everything was ok. I suspect the firmware too but I have upgraded it to version: hlb_fw_v019 and no good.

About Siemens... I can't get anywhere with them till now. For your information, I am an ex-Siemens engineer turned to a be dealer now.
